Iris Bartzen
Iris was born in Moscow, Idaho and grew up in Lewiston, Idaho and after a venture to Canada — long enough to meet and marry her husband Dale—she returned to the United States and in 1974 settled in Spokane, Washington. Soon after Iris began her career in accounting and advanced to a position negotiating major purchasing contracts for a large non-profit organization.
Even with a demanding career, a love of real estate and design always played a major part in her life and she exercised her love of remodeling, construction and interior design by purchasing and “re-doing” homes for resale. She was an original “flipper”. This soon became her new career as well as her passion. It was perfect because it allowed her time to remain close at hand with her daughter during her daughter’s growing years. When her daughter, Tracey, reached high school Iris began her full time real estate career.
A successful real estate career and the “staging” of her listings long before it was called staging led to a combination career as a highly successful residential sales broker with sales exceeding $100,000,000 in personal sales (not including team numbers) and the designer in her staging company “Stage It – Sell It”.
Iris has never believed that awards for production should be a measurement of success. You will not see the long list she has been awarded here or anywhere on this site. She says she has seen too many times, in order for an agent to boost their sales numbers, where the “sale” became more important than the “client”. She believes recognition should be given only for outstanding professional service. Iris does allow the presentation of one award, which she is most proud of, it is ‘The Most Referred Realtor’. This award is voted on by those most in the know about the industry, the top producing agents. It is presented to only 2- 3 agents in a county or city depending on the population. The top producing agents are asked “If you were leaving the business…who would you refer your favorite clients to?” Iris held this award from 1995, its inception, until it was discontinued in 2009.
There is one other measurement of success that Iris believes reflects the true facts and that is personal market statistics (not team or office) and hers are exemplary. She believes these numbers should be reviewed by every seller selecting an agent to market their home because they tell the true story of the agents abilities and success in representing the best interest of their client. On average, over a 25+ year career, Iris obtained 98.92% of the original list price and in only 12 days on market! Amazing numbers!
In search of a new goal and having a desire to help agents on their own road to success swayed Iris to become sales manager at a 100+ agent real estate firm but the down turn of 2008 gave her the perfect opportunity to gracefully step back into her old shoes and satisfy her need for hands on. She said “It was so much easier to do it right yourself than to try to teach others who often never got it.” She returned to serving her clients as a residential broker and designer at Stage It – Sell It.
Iris has dedicated herself to what she does best – sharing her knowledge and helping her clients as if they were family. Drawing on a background of accounting, negotiating, remodeling and design (staging) gives Iris extensive experience to educate her clients for the betterment of their decision making while making the entire experience a much less stressful one!
In 2015 Iris and Dale relocated to Peoria, Arizona where she began a whole new chapter in her real estate life.
